Normafa Hotel

Back to Trip Report

Normafa Hotel is situated up on the Svab Hill. It can be easily reached from Moszkva ter (Moscow Square ) using the number 21 or 90 bus. It was not a problem staying outside of Budapest, within half an hour we could be in the centre of the City.
Booking in was no problem, we were very pleased to find that we were upgraded to a suite. The bus terminates about 100yards from the Hotel, so most days there was a bus waiting for us to board.
The Room (suite) was well equipped with:-     Two Club chairs - Coffee table   -   Desk/Dressing table - well stocked Fridge/mini-bar   -   Ample storage  - Satellite TV - telephone - WiFi access - Coffee  and Tea making facilities - A large Balcony which could be accessed from the lounge and bedroom.. The bedroom was separated from the lounge area by sliding wooden doors.  The large bathroom led off the bedroom, and contained both a bath and shower.  (there was even a hairdryer supplied).
The breakfast was self service in the bright roomy restaurant, but the friendly staff were on hand if you required assistance.   Not only could you obtain the usual continental breakfast, but also laid out were cereals, toast, scrambled eggs and sausages.  In addition you could order from the menu printed on the placemats, a selection of more substantial hot freshly cooked food, eg. bacon and eggs.
Most evenings we had our evening meal in one of the two hotel restaurants. The restaurant within the hotel itself was more formal than the Normafa grill, situated in the hotel grounds but both provided reasonably priced, excellent food served by very friendly attentive staff.
We did not participate in some of the facilities that were available at the hotel namely, snooker room,  swimming pool, fitness and wellness centre, sauna, solarium and massage.
We took our laptop computer with us, so we could  download our pictures from our digital cameras. Being an older laptop it did not have WiFi access, but we were pleased to find the hotel had a small computer room available to guests, therefore we were able to send and receive emails.
On the last day our flight was not until just after 10pm, but the hotel allowed us the use of our room until early evening, when the taxi arrived to take us to the airport.
We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to our friends or staying at the hotel again, but next time possibly later in the season when the weather was warmer, but having said that the snow was gorgeous (and the room was so warm we had to turn the radiators down).
